Cobalt Blue Vases are multi Cultural vessels that create a historical narrative through hybrid images on a classic vase. The vessels document local interpretations of cobalt oxide. One raw material travelled the world and made it smaller and inspired a symbolism based language between cultures.

The images are transferred on unfired porcelain through a “cobalt transfer” process. Brushing cobalt oxide on photocopied black and white images and applying it manually on the piece. Traditional patterns become new hybrids with this modern process and create a documentation of cross cultural imagery throughout blue and white porcelains history from 9th century Iran to recent European interpretations.
